One day has been allocated for the process, and the deadline has been set at 24.00. Safe broke off the initial round of negotiations in October, primarily because of an internal conflict at local level in Schlumberger Norge related to a special agreement with that company.

If mediation fails to produce a solution, Safe will take 262 members in Schlumberger Norge out on strike. Almost 700 members of the union are covered by the well service agreement.

Schlumberger Norge has a range of assignments for a number of operator companies on the Norwegian continental shelf. A possible strike would have consequences for planned activities on facilities operated by Equinor, Aker BP, Vår Energi, Lundin Energy Norway, MOL Norge and ConocoPhillips Norge.

In the negotiations on the oil service agreements during October, Norwegian Oil and Gas reached a settlement with the Norwegian Union of Industry and Energy Workers (Industry Energy). The latter has an agreement parallel to the one being negotiated with Safe which covers more that 4 600 of its members. This settlement was in line with the framework provided by the lead sector.

In all, just over 5 000 employees in supplier companies are covered by the various collective pay agreements in the oil service area. These companies deliver services to oil company operations on offshore installations.

The companies covered by the well service agreement with Safe are Schlumberger Norge, Halliburton, Baker Hughes Norge, Oceaneering, Subsea 7 Norway, Weatherford Norge and Vetco Gray Scandinavia.
